Thank You!

The host committee would like to thank everyone who helped make this conference an enormous success! And we are proud to announce that those who assembled on Sunday morning for the action planning session voted to establish a new organization.

Unite+Fight Midwest Equality NetworkWe voted to form the Unite + Fight Midwest Equality Network! This new entity, to keep midwestern activists in touch with one another and coordinating actions, also voted unanimously to affiliate with Equality Across America. All the individual activists and groups in attenance remain independent and self-governing, but Unite + Fight Midwest Equality Network and EAA will help us coordinate on a regional and national level to make our actions more effective, and to ensure that even those who come out for a ten person action in a tiny rural town know they are part of something bigger.

Those who were present arranged for a first conference call to start organizing our network. We are also setting up a Google group for discussion and a Facebook presence. We’ll have more details soon. If you were unable to make it to the Sunday session but still want to get involved, please email unitefightmidwest@gmail.com.

Two weeks!

The conference starts in two weeks, everybody! Hard to believe, but it’s true, and we have a great slate of workshops and speakers planned, as well as our Sunday morning strategy session. We’ll be posting the schedule very soon.

Are you ready to come build a grassroots network for equality? Then make sure you’re registered, and set up your hotel or hostel room now.

Once that’s done, why not help spread the word? You can…

  • Are you a member of a local activist group? Post about the conference to that group’s website or email list!
  • Print out a flyer from our media page and post it in your local LGBTQ-friendly establishments.
  • Post a link to our site on your Twitter or Facebook account.
  • Coming from St. Louis? A local group is organizing ride shares. Coming from elsewhere? Maybe you can set up ride shares for your area!

Thanks for getting the word out! This conference is by and for us, the grassroots activists of the midwest, and we need everyone’s voice.

Way To Go, St. Louis

A St. Louis activist group, Show Me No Hate, is organizing ride shares to the conference. If you’re interested, please check out their website. This is fantastic news.

If you’re coming from elsewhere, maybe you can organize ride sharing yourself! If not, please check out the PDF with travel information on our Accommodations page.
